Founding Members

We seek experienced people to bring this vision to life. To build the structures and processes that will shape our collective activities. Do you have time to give back and help us create our CLT and Coop? Don’t have time but still want to help? Do you have the hard and soft skills to realise our vision? Do you have a community who would be interested in being involved?

As an emerging regenerative intermediary, we aim to connect people with the land for community benefit. The first step to bringing Yarn and Yield to life is to incorporate as a non-distributing cooperative. We are looking for our first five members to take on the role of our first founding board. We are looking for community members that embody the principles of adaptive leadership: open to feedback, focus on significant decisions, ready for inevitable change and nimble to shift direction when necessary.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a passion for social purpose and social impact and uses social enterprise/cooperatives to provide social and environmental benefits.
  • Is willing to collaborate with a long-term strategic focus and regenerative future.
  • Has the emotional intelligence and self-awareness in leadership and communication styles; opening your mind, heart and will to possibilities.
  • Is comfortable with uncertainty and emergence

Some of the experiences we are looking for:

  • Strong emotional intelligence and collaboration skills to engage with and influence various personalities, subtly recognising opportunities for all perspectives to be heard and considered with respect and professionalism. Able to encourage reflection and meaningful conversations.
  • Dynamic, futuristic, and “outside the box” thinking is needed to identify opportunities, innovations, and solutions, as well as the ability to see the larger system.
  • Complex, high-level decision making, both individually and as a committee/work group/board member
  • Experience scaling organisations from start-up stage, shifting the collective focus from reactive problem solving to co-creating a new future.
  • Former Board experience is preferred but not compulsory.

In addition to experience the above, we are looking for experience in at least some of the following areas:

  • finance/tax/accounting/audit
  • legal/governance/compliance
  • HR/IR/talent management
  • marketing/business development
  • public relations/communications/social media
  • social purpose organisational experience (social enterprise, charity, community organisation, co-op, other NFP, B-Corp)
  • digital marketplaces and other tech
  • banking/payment systems
  • B2C or B2C2B businesses
  • capital raising (venture/impact investors/crowd funding/grants)
