We envision a future where land is held with care rather than extracted for short-term gain. A future where community, ecology, and enterprise are woven together so that what we steward today continues to nourish life for generations to come. Yarn and Yield exists to help make that future real — grounded in land, shaped by community, and guided by regeneration.
At the heart of our vision are two interconnected parts: a Land Foundation that holds land in trust, and Yarn and Yield, the community cooperative that brings that land to life.
Land Held in Trust, Forever
The Yarn and Yield Land Trust exists to hold land in perpetuity for future generations. These lands are not owned for speculation or private accumulation, but held by the community as a shared inheritance. They are protected places — ecologically, culturally, and socially — secured so they cannot be fragmented, sold off, or stripped of their living value.
Each property within the Land Trust is held with a long view. The question guiding every decision is simple but profound: Will this land be healthier, more resilient, and more alive because we were here? The Land Trust ensures that the answer remains yes, long after current caretakers, members, and founders have passed the baton.
Our first land is located in West Woombye. It is both a beginning and an invitation — a proof of concept that land can be held differently, and a call to our community to contribute to the funds needed to purchase the land.
Yarn & Yield, The Mother Tree
Yarn and Yield is the operational heart of the vision. We are a community cooperative entrusted with caring for, stewarding, and activating land for community benefit. Through regenerative agriculture, education, enterprise, well-being, and shared knowledge, we help land become a place of contribution rather than consumption.
Yarn and Yield members collectively manage the land, guided by principles of cooperation over competition, contribution over consumption, and regeneration over extraction. The cooperative model ensures that decisions are made transparently, power is shared, and responsibility is distributed across the community.
The land is not managed for the community, but with the community.
Caretakers as Stewards
Each property within the Yarn and Yield ecosystem has dedicated caretakers living on or closely connected to the land. These caretakers are not landlords or overseers — they are stewards. They hold deep relationships with place, understand its rhythms and limits, and are accountable to both the land and the wider Yarn and Yield membership.
Caretakers sit on the Yarn and Yield Board, ensuring that governance is grounded in lived experience of land stewardship. Decisions flow from soil health, water cycles, ecosystems, and community needs — not abstract metrics alone.
This structure keeps the cooperative rooted, responsive, and relational.
Many Lands, One Community
While West Woombye is our first home, our vision reaches far beyond a single property. We see a network of lands across Australia — diverse in climate, culture, and purpose — all held within the Land Foundation and stewarded through Yarn and Yield.
Some lands may focus on food and fibre, while others may focus on learning, restoration, healing, or cultural regeneration. Each place retains its unique identity while being connected through shared values, governance, and community.
Members of Yarn and Yield can contribute across many lands, offering skills, time, care, and creativity where they are most needed. In turn, the lands support members — providing food, learning, livelihood pathways, belonging, and purpose.
This is a distributed, living system: many places, one cooperative body.

We extend an open invitation to landowners who are thinking beyond their own lifetime.
If you have poured years of love, labour, and vision into your land — restoring soils, planting trees, building systems, creating something meaningful — Yarn and Yield offers a way to protect that work into the future.
By placing land into the Yarn and Yield Land Foundation, landowners can ensure that what they have created is held securely in perpetuity. The land remains intact, cared for, and aligned with regenerative values.
Through Yarn and Yield, the land gains a living community — people who bring energy, skills, and collective responsibility to keep the vision alive. This offers landowners peace of mind: knowing that when they are no longer here, their legacy does not fade or fragment, but continues to grow.
